Abstract
A finite element method (FEM) program is developed to calculate the stress and deformation of large cylinder wharf structures, adopting 3 D rigid plastic interface elements to simulate the interaction between soil and cylinder wall. According to a practical project of cylinder wharf, distributions of the soil pressure on the inner and outer sides of the cylinder wall and the friction between soil and cylinder wall are analyzed.
